Looking for free salsa or bachata dance lessons in New York City? This guide to free salsa and bachata in NYC shows you where to dance outdoors all summer (and into fall). Sunset Salsa is one of the most anticipated free salsa and bachata events in NYC, set right along the Hudson River. When I used to work in corporate, I would rush out of work to make the lessons on time. Acclaimed instructor Talía Castro-Pozo teaches beginner-friendly salsa lessons followed by an open dance party against the backdrop of the Hudson River. Whether you’re learning your first basic step or showing off your spins, Sunset Salsa is the perfect way to spend a summer night outdoors.
When: Wednesdays in September (to be confirmed)
Where: Domino Park, Williamsburg
Presented by: Nieves Dance Studio
Wind down the summer season at this scenic salsa series in Brooklyn. With lessons and dancing right along the waterfront, Salsa by the Water delivers one of the most beautiful backdrops for practicing your steps. Historically hosted by Nieves Dance Studio, these events welcome dancers of all skill levels in a relaxed, community-oriented setting. Out of all the locations, this one is my favorite because the outdoor fountain section, which has been converted into a dance floor, changes color the whole time.
