My stay at the Four Points by Sheraton Josun, Seoul Myeongdong perfectly embodied my spontaneous approach to travel. To be honest, I barely planned my trip to Seoul. As a seasoned traveler, the older I get, the less I plan. I kind of just show up and let the city reveal itself! I think it’s more fun that way, letting me live like a local while still hitting those must-see spots.
Now, I can only get away with this because cities like Seoul are incredibly foreigner-friendly and easy to navigate. If it was a less efficient destination without built-out infrastructure, I’d put in more effort. As a beauty enthusiast drawn to Korea’s world-famous skincare and cosmetics scene, I decided to make Myeongdong my home base because it’s right in the heart of the city. This district puts you within walking distance of everything: from mouthwatering street food to endless shopping options, making it the perfect location. Plus, with Seoul’s major subway lines connecting you to anywhere you want to go and English signage everywhere, it’s nearly impossible to get lost.

I wrote about Spa on Air, but staying in a jjimjilbang is obviously a temporary arrangement. While Spa on Air was perfect for an early arrival, I needed a proper home base for my week-long stay in Seoul. That’s how I found Four Points Josun in Myeongdong. Initially, I considered booking an Airbnb for the kitchen access, but there is a concern about hidden cameras in Korean Airbnbs so I decided that staying in a hotel would be the safer choice.
What drew me to Four Points by Sheraton Josun, Seoul Myeongdong was its reputation as part of the Sheraton family under Marriott Bonvoy. With 295 hotels across 45 countries, I knew I could count on their reliable standards. Having opened in 2020, this relatively new property struck the perfect balance between comfort and budget, even though Myeongdong generally runs a bit pricier than other Seoul neighborhoods.
Nestled in the bustling heart of Seoul, this 4-star hotel puts you just a short 6-minute stroll from the historic Myeongdong Cathedral. What I particularly appreciated about the Four Points by Sheraton Josun, Seoul Myeongdong was how traveler-friendly the location was. You’ll find the hotel just steps away from Exit 12 of Euljiro 3 metro station, and the airport shuttle bus stops right in front of the property. Beyond that, Myeongdong Station and the cultural treasure of Jongmyo Shrine are nearby, and Bangsan Market is within easy reach.
The hotel itself offers everything you’d expect from a premium establishment. For those mixing business with pleasure, there’s a well-equipped business center, and the 24-hour front desk and concierge service ensure you’re well taken care of at any hour. One feature that really set this hotel apart was its guest laundry facilities. Having access to a washer and dryer proved incredibly useful during my longer stay, something you rarely find in city hotels. I particularly appreciated the bidet in the bathroom, reminding me of Japan, and there’s space for unpacking properly. Plus, with complimentary WiFi throughout the property, staying connected is never an issue.
While there are certainly cheaper options in other districts of Seoul, the convenience factor of this location and the thoughtful amenities made it worth every penny.
