Are you planning on traveling to Taiwan’s southernmost point and looking for a hotel to stay at? Caesar Park Hotel Kenting, Taiwan (ๅขพไธๅฑๆๅคง้ฃฏๅบ) is one of the more popular resorts in resorts on the Hengchun Peninsula (ๆๆฅๅๅณถ). Kenting is a summer destination, nicknamed the “Hawaii of Taiwan,” and the lobby definitely reminded me of some of the more tourist-centric hotel lobbies I’ve stayed in Hawaii itself.
I picked this hotel because I was traveling with my mom, as I typically do in Taiwan. Since it’s a popular hotel choice, I knew it would at least be a comfortable stay. The view is normally what helps me decide what hotel to choose, since I want something worth photographing, but in this instance it was about being near the beach.
I visited during the off-season in November. Large tour buses parked out front when I arrived, and that usually means the hotel has a lot of families, with kids running around the property. I stayed one night during a 24-hour trip through Kenting (ๅขพไธ), and while it’s a popular hotel to book, I don’t think it’s worth what it costs.
Location of Caesar Park Hotel in Kenting

Caesar Park Kenting can be found at No. 6 Kenting Road in Hengchun Township (ๆๆฅ้ฎ), Pingtung County (ๅฑๆฑ็ธฃ), next to Xiaowan Beach (ๅฐ็ฃ) and Kenting National Park (ๅขพไธๅๅฎถๅ ฌๅ). The resort opened in 1986, making it one of the older established resorts in the area.
While the high-speed rail doesn’t run this far south, you can take a Taiwan Railway train to Fangliao station in Pingtung County. However, even from there, Kenting has no train station of its own, so you’ll need a bus, car, or moped to cover the last stretch. Driving from Kaohsiung directly takes about two hours.
Cost of Staying at Caesar Park Hotel in Kenting

Prices swing heavily by season, but overall, Caesar Park Kenting seems to be on the higher end for hotel prices in Taiwan. Part of that comes down to location. This stretch of coast sits right on the beach, and Kenting is an in-demand destination, especially during summer.
I paid $176 and some change for one night during the off-season. I expected the price to drop more than it did, since the weather isn’t great during the low season, but it stayed relatively high. The hotel’s listed high-season rate runs close to NT$13,000 (about $460) plus a 10% service charge. My Capital One Venture X annual travel credit covered the cost, which softened the sting to my wallet, but the room itself didn’t feel worth the price. If I come back to Kenting again during low season, I’ll probably check out a different hotel next time.
Room Options at Caesar Park Kenting

I stayed in the Deluxe Guest Room on the second floor, with two queen beds and a partial beach view. There’s a private terrace, but I didn’t get to enjoy it because it was too windy during my stay.
The bathroom was a decent size. There’s a soaking tub that sits against a glass wall, looking straight into the bedroom, so you can see the beds and the terrace doors from the tub. However, I’m not a fan of the open window between the bathroom and bedroom. It works fine if you’re staying in the room alone, but it could get awkward otherwise. Thankfully, there are blinds you can pull down to block the view.
The room itself was comfortable, but the lighting setup was quite frustrating. None of the switches were intuitive, and there was one particular light that took me hours to figure out how to turn off. Somehow, the switch was inside the closet, which had no business being in there.
Dining at Caesar Park Kenting

Most bookings at Caesar Park Kenting include breakfast, but not dinner. The breakfast buffet was genuinely good, with an extensive spread of both Western and Eastern dishes. Dinner costs extra unless you book one of the hotel’s one-night-two-meals packages.
Restaurants and Regional Food
The hotel offers limited on-site dining, with only a Western restaurant, a Thai restaurant, a bakery, and two bars. Honestly, the property’s lack of a Taiwanese restaurant surprised me. Since the weather in Kenting was bad when I stayed, I ended up eating dinner at the hotel’s Thai restaurant, Lotus (่ฎ่ฑ้คๅปณ), and it was meh. I’m generally skeptical when a restaurant tries to have a cuisine outside its own culture, since the flavor is usually different. The limited dining selection makes more sense, though, when you consider who the hotel caters to.
Amenities at Caesar Park Kenting

I only stayed one night at Caesar Park Kenting, which wasn’t enough time to actually use any of the resort’s amenities. I did step out onto my room’s terrace briefly, but that was about it. The resort also lists snorkeling, sailing through Hobie Getaway, a spa, a kids’ club, and guided nature discovery tours, though I can’t speak to any of those firsthand.
Who Is Caesar Park in Kenting, Taiwan Best For?

Caesar Park Kenting markets directly to families and older travelers, and that was evident during my one-night stay. Simply put, I am not the targeted demographic. It’s easy to see why this hotel is one of the go-to hotel choices in Kenting, though. Mainly, it has beach access, and it’s the kind of place that stays popular in Taiwan partly because it’s already popular. Herd mentality is prevalent in Taiwanese society.
The price didn’t match the experience for me. Most hotels in Kenting are expensive, so Caesar Park doesn’t necessarily stand out as overpriced for the area, but I would rather check out one of the other hotels in the area next time, just to compare.
