What if luxury didn’t have to cost a fortune? During my trip to Malaysia, I stayed at an amazing 5-star hotel in the heart of Kuala Lumpur, the Sheraton Imperial KL. Known as the “grand dame” of KL, the hotel underwent a multimillion-dollar transformation, and the property now blends classic colonial architecture with modern, sleek interiors.
The most surprising part was the price. If you’re planning a trip to Southeast Asia and wondering where to stay in Kuala Lumpur, keep reading. This hotel might be the insider tip you didn’t know you needed!

City View Room with Twin Beds
I booked the City View Guest Room with twin beds, the hotel’s entry-level option. However, there was nothing basic about it! At 452 square feet (42 sqm), the room felt spacious and thoughtfully designed. The plush featherbeds, oversized marble bathroom with separate shower and tub, and even a walk-in closet added a touch of luxury I didn’t expect from the lowest-tier room. It really made me wonder what the suites must be like.
Here’s what came included:
Two twin beds with pillowtop mattresses and feather duvets
City views of Kuala Lumpur
A marble bathroom with an oversized bathtub and walk-in shower
Walk-in closet
Complimentary Wi-Fi
Mini fridge
USB outlets, robe, slippers, and 24-hour room service
Unbeatable Location in Kuala Lumpur
Location is everything, and the Sheraton Imperial Kuala Lumpur is in a very ideal spot. Situated just steps from the LRT and Monorail stations, the hotel makes getting around the city effortless. Iconic attractions like the Petronas Towers and KL Tower are just minutes away, while popular spots like Jalan Alor Night Market are easily accessible by a short ride or quick train trip. You’re also minutes from major shopping malls, cultural landmarks, and beloved local food spots. Whether you’re navigating KL’s lively neighborhoods or catching a train to explore further, this hotel puts you right in the heart of it all.
Is the Sheraton Imperial KL Worth It?
If you’re visiting Kuala Lumpur and want a luxury experience without the luxury price, the Sheraton Imperial is a smart choice. I paid just $72 per night, or $36 per person since I shared the room with a friend, and it felt like I got far more than I paid for! Traveling to Southeast Asia is amazing because you really get the most bang for your buck! Between the upscale amenities, generous room size, and unbeatable location, this hotel proves that high-end comfort doesn’t have to come with a high-end price tag. It’s a stay that leaves you impressed, relaxed, and ready to book your next visit.
