The Big Apple is a photographer’s paradise, but accessing professional photography studios in NYC can often come with a steep price tag. I’ve previously written about how to DIY your own home photography studio, but if you need more space, renting a studio for a day or longer period is sometimes necessary. It also helps with not associating your home space as a work office.
Below in this guide are a range of photography studios in NYC I’ve come across online. Whether you’re a seasoned pro on a budget or an aspiring shutterbug looking for value, these studios offer amenities and equipment without breaking the bank.
I’m not a fan of real estate funnel platforms because they tend to be priced higher by the vendors due to fees they have to pay, and they’re a major contributor to the current housing crisis. Not only that, reviews can be manipulated which makes it harder to verify the authenticity of someone’s experience. However, it’s better than nothing and a site like Peer Space feels necessary for efficiency’s sake. In my experience, it’s difficult to find rental photography studios in NYC, especially under $100/hour. Peer Space is a marketplace connecting professionals and creators for booking and listing rental spaces.
With rental rates starting as low as $25/hour, FD Studios has huge studio rooms at an affordable price.

If you’re on NYC TikTok, you may have seen the renovation process of this beautiful studio in Brooklyn. Each room is colorfully maximalist for the most beautiful feminine photoshoots. Since it’s decked and fully furnished the loft can also be booked as an event space.
AKC Creative Studio, which stands for Artist Kit Company, is a dedicated beauty studio catered to makeup artists and hair stylists. The space is great for beauty-related photoshoots, and has a makeup and hair station and is equipped with “daylight-balanced continuous lighting.” I first came across AKC when I was looking into depotting products for my makeup. The founder has a clear minimalist and clean aesthetic that translates across all of his work.
