Thursday night in Bushwick felt electric as word spread through the city’s underground music channels:
Sam Gellaitry’s intimate pop-up set was hosted by Renegade on a rooftop with the Manhattan skyline glittering in the background. The weather was the perfect summer temp, warm but not sweltering, setting the stage for the free RSVP show that delivered exactly the kind of authentic underground experience in one of the city’s coveted off-grid spaces.

The Scottish Producer’s NYC Moment

For the unfamiliar, Gellaitry isn’t your typical electronic artist. The 23-year-old experiences music through vivid colors. Synesthesia that transforms musical scales into purples, blues, and greens. This unique perspective shaped his acclaimed ‘Escapism’ trilogy and recent vocal work on the ‘IV’ EP.

The Brooklyn crowd was perfectly primed by the time Gellaitry took over. I caught part of opener Zillion’s set right before Sam, and he was dropping amazing tracks that had the audience locked in and ready. Against the backdrop of Manhattan’s lit-up skyscrapers, Gellaitry painted the rooftop in his signature sonic hues, with his track washing over an incredibly friendly, dancing audience. The perfect evening weather truly added to the vibe. There’s something about his approach where strangers become unified, moving to the same frequencies under the open sky. The night’s biggest surprise? Kaytranada made an unexpected appearance, sending the energy through the roof.

Brooklyn’s Underground Scene Delivers

In an era of mega-festivals and algorithm playlists, moments like these feel precious. Events like this are a reminder of why living in New York City means being in the city that never sleeps. Thursday night was a reminder that the best musical experiences happen when great artists meet passionate audiences in spaces designed for connection. Sam Gellaitry delivered exactly that: a night painted in sound, color, and pure human energy.
